Ever wanted to create beautiful custom colour gradients for your spinning? Or do you need a subtle colour change for your felted project? Or you just can’t find the colour you are looking for? This workshop will give you an introduction to blending fibres using various blending tools. Hand carders, combs, drum carder, hackle and blending board. Bring your own tools or practise on your host's tools. Simple pet grooming tools can also be used for smaller projects. You don't even need to be a dyer! Just buy fibre in basic primary colours and use them like paints.
What you'll learn in this workshop
- An introduction to colour theory and optical blending
- How to use a range of fibre preparation tools.
- Carding, combing, making rolags, how to use a diz.
- Advice on what tools and techniques would suit you best, and how to improvise.
Supplied by Presenter
- A selection of superwash merino in various colours.
- Participants will get to take their blended fibres home with them.
Equipment & Requirements
- Any of your fibre that you would like to blend or re-imagine.
- Any blending tools that you already own but would like help with.
