Learn grasped and semi-grasped spindle spinning - with or without a distaff. Often referred to as 'medieval-style spinning', grasped and semi-grasped spinning (which is not the same as supported spinning) is done with a small-whorl spindle often in conjunction with a distaff for 'storage' of the fibre being spun.
What you'll learn in this workshop
- At this workshop we will discuss different types of spindles
- Why spindles are constructed the way they are;
- and the effect of the build of the spindle on the yarn spun.
- Participants will have the opportunity to try out various small-whorl spindles - and distaffs if they prefer.
