The workshop is an introduction to spindle spinning using medieval-style, small-whorl spindles and a grasped or semi-grasped spinning method. The method is in essence a 'park-and-draft' method well suited for beginner spinners, and also a long-draw method for those who would like to learn that.
What you'll learn in this workshop
1. Participants will be introduced to the physics of spindles and spinning.
2. They will learn how to spin yarn by drafting and adding twist to fibre.
3. They will learn the proper way to wind on a durable cop.
4. They will learn how to use a niddy noddy.
5. They will be introduced to plying.
